Hi! I'm Galen and I am fundraising to cover the cost of my PTSD Service Dog, Bumble.

While I am actively in therapy, and have many other supports in place to make living with PTSD easier, none have been as helpful as a Service Dog. In the past, I did my best to train a dog to assist me, but as we all know, not every dog is up to the difficult job of being a service dog. Since then I have been in search of the right service dog for me.

In the last year, I have been working towards my goals of getting a job and becoming more independent. Through the support of my therapist, I was connected with Medi-Dogs. They thought I could be a good fit for Bumble and the rest is history. In the short time she has been home, she is already improving my quality of life. Bumble has been in training the last year for a handler with PTSD and making amazing progress. Something I journaled a few days into her being with us was “It feels like she has lived with us for weeks instead of days. She just fits. The kids love her so much, and it’s nice having a shadow so I don’t feel alone during all my spiraling and not being able to sleep.”

Bumble is currently continuing her training for the specific tasks that will help me. These include "watching my back", alert when people approach me and block people from getting too close to me so that I am less hypervigilant in public spaces. She also provides tactile stimulation and deep pressure therapy to help me recover from anxiety attacks.

Bumble is actively helping me move towards my goals of indepence and has become an integral part of my care team. She has already made so many parts of my life easier, and I feel much more confident and ready for new challenges with her by my side. I am fundraising to cover her cost so that we can continue to learn and grow together. My full payment of $15,000 is due at the end of 2025.
