Help me break on to the world stage of cycling

Hi. My name is Maxwell Hereward I am a 20 year old British cyclist from the RossendaleValley in Lancashire.

This year I have won the British under 23 national series outright, been 4th at the Elite men's national Circuit championships, won several British National series races and broke course records on my Time trial bike including the Circuit of the Dales.

I have achieved an Elite British racing licence (I was 19 at the time - not many 19 year olds ever achieve this).

I have gone as far as I can in the UK cycling scene and to improve my development and race experience I need to go to Europe. This is not cheap.

I have an opportunity from a team to race and train in Italy. The team Zappi development have a long and successful history developing and launching young riders on to the world stage and have invited me to race 25 UCI races and 30 national races in 2026, riders like Tom Pidcock, Ben Healey, Archie Ryan to name a few all raced with Zappi as young riders. I need to be able to part fund the accommodation and travel to and from Italy. The team will support with all race related funds such as travel, bikes, equipment etc. The team also offer full mentorship from race preparation to mental health support which is becoming more and more necessary in the sport. Being prepared mentally as well as physically is hugely important as riders entering the sport become younger and younger each year.

On February the 1st 2025 my best friend Aidan Worden was killed by a car right in front of me on a training ride, Aidan remains with me in every ride or race and is now my inspiration to keep going. The cover photo is me winning Aidan's memorial race - just a regional crit for the race's first year but one of my proudest moments because it meant so much.
