Hi, my name is Aidan and I am trying to raise funds to be able to afford to go to America and go to college.
I am a Cork City native and am 27 years old. I am the son of a very proud mother, Brenda who through the hardest times always went above and beyond to put me before her even if it meant taking up a second job. My dad, Denis was always very encouraging of my dreams, always pushing me to find something I loved and give everything I have to it. I am very grateful to both of my parents for the values they have instilled in me and I would never have even got this far without them
I have always wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember. My parents wanted me to try everything sports wise but I never stuck to any of it longer than a year or 2, similar to my worklife always bouncing from one to the other trying to find a place where I felt I truly belonged to.
However, I hadn't started acting until 2020, mainly because I was afraid to be vulnerable and put myself out there for the world to see. The reason I decided I had to start is because during COVID I had collapsed while playing 5 a side. I was brought to hospital and the put defibrillator pads on my chest because my heart rate had spiked up to 220 beats per minute, when they stabilized me, I knew I had to make serious changes to the way I looked at life, I swore in that moment that I was going to do what made me happy despite what anyone might think.
Fast forward to this year and the reason for my asking you for help is that on a spur of the moment I had applied to the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. I did not expect to get far in my application as there were thousands of applicants from the US itself let alone from abroad, but I was lucky that they liked me in my audition and offered me a place for the upcoming course in September. The course over the 2 years is close to €110,000 and I would be grateful for any help I can get along the way.
Even if you are not in the position to help me by donating, I am just as appreciative that you have taken the time to read about my story and I would only ask that you share it on.
Forever grateful,
Aidan
