Hi, my name is Martin Perez, an 18-year-old Chicano from the East Side of San Jose. I was born in Sacramento but moved and was raised in San Jose after the tragic passing of my birth mother when I was three months old.

Despite the hardships, my family and I have been through and those we have faced in our neighborhood, I managed to stay on top of my education, taking Dual enrollment and AP classes. I graduated on the honor roll of LCPA Class of 2022.

I have been accepted and committed to UC Davis. I start this fall as a first-generation undergraduate student but am faced with the problem of funding my future so it is with a very humble heart that I ask for your help in my pursuit of higher education, for the opportunity to continue to make my family proud, pave the way for my two younger sisters, and follow my dreams while at the same changing the status quo that is out there for young Latino men like myself.
