Help me purchase my first Helicopter Helmet

Hi everybody,

My name’s Alida (to some li.li.pink) and I’ve setup this personal GoFundMe to help purchase my first Helicopter Pilot Helmet. At first it seemed a selfish ask but after wrestling with the idea for a couple of weeks, and through encouragement from my supporters I’ve decided: why not ask?

My journey so far-

I’ve wanted to fly helicopters from a young age, some of my best memories were as an Air Force Cadet. Unfortunately, the military wasn’t for me so for 15 years I made many a delicious cup of coffee as a barista in cafes across Melbourne to pay for my training. My family were always there proudly helping me along; we didn’t have any pilots in the family.

It took 6 years, but in 2017 I successfully gained my Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter).

After finding work as a Hangar Assistant for a while I was then signed on as a Line Pilot flying scenic tours at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the middle of Australia.

My passion for flying has never wavered, my thirst for learning and sharing this amazing world of aviation and helicopters has only grown. I am part of just 3% of pilots who are women and fly helis and I love being able to show others what’s possible.

Having spent 4 years flying in the remote desert I have just accepted an amazing job in Borneo with the flying doctors. It’s my first Air Work role and I need to wear a specialised Air Work Pilot Helmet. It’s a massive investment but one I hope I don’t need to make often.
