Help me purchase an epilepsy monitoring device

My name is Logan, and I am asking for help raising $260 to purchase an Apple Watch Series 10 that will allow me to access seizure-monitoring and emergency health features that could make a significant difference in my safety and daily life.

I live with several serious medical conditions, including Chiari Malformation, Syringomyelia and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Recently, I suffered a traumatic brain injury, which has resulted in grand mal seizures, focal seizures, and nocturnal seizures that arrest my breathing. My neurologist is having me undergo numerous tests and treatments to determine what type of epilepsy I have, as well as the cause and location of the seizure activity in my brain. I am currently awaiting further evaluation and treatment from my neurologist, as well as clearance to determine whether I will need another brain surgery. In the meantime, I am left navigating the uncertainty and fear that come with these new symptoms.

One of the most difficult parts of this journey has been going to sleep at night. Because I experience nocturnal seizures, I often lie awake wondering if I will have a seizure while sleeping and whether anyone will know if something goes wrong. Living in rural Alaska adds another layer of concern, as the nearest emergency department is approximately two hours away. Access to emergency care is limited, and there is often no immediate help available if a medical emergency occurs.

The Apple Watch Series 10 would allow me to use the EpiWatch app, which helps track seizure activity using smartwatch sensors and collects data that can be shared with healthcare providers. While no device can guarantee detection of every seizure, having the ability to monitor potential seizure activity and collect information for my medical team would provide an additional layer of safety while I wait for specialized neurological care.

What makes the Apple Watch especially valuable for me is that it addresses more than just epilepsy concerns. Because of my POTS, I frequently experience episodes of cardiovascular symptoms. The Apple Watch can continuously monitor my heart rate, track sleep disturbances, provide health notifications, and help me better understand patterns in my symptoms. It also includes important safety features such as fall detection, emergency calling capabilities, and health monitoring tools that can be critical during a medical event.

Many dedicated epilepsy-monitoring devices are significantly more expensive and focus solely on seizure detection. The Apple Watch offers a more affordable solution that can help me monitor multiple complex medical conditions with a single device. For someone living with new-onset seizures and complex neurological disorders following a traumatic brain injury, that combination of features could make a meaningful difference in my daily safety and quality of life.

My goal is to raise $260 toward the purchase of an Apple Watch Series 10. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings me one step closer to having a tool that can help me monitor my health, collect important medical data, and provide additional peace of mind during an incredibly difficult time.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your kindness, and for any support you can provide.
