I never imagined I would have to write something like this. I write today with tears in my eyes and fear in my heart. The situation in Minneapolis has turned our lives upside down, and because of these circumstances, my beauty salon on Lake Street has been forced to close. That salon was everything to us. It was how I put food on the table, paid rent, and cared for my children.

Overnight, our only source of income disappeared.

What keeps me awake at night is the fear of losing my ability to protect my daughters. I am especially terrified for my daughter Judith. She was born blind, she has autism, and she depends on me for absolutely everything: guidance, safety, comfort, and love. I am her eyes in this world. The thought of not being able to care for her or meet her basic needs breaks my heart in ways I cannot put into words.

Because Judith was born in Mexico, we receive no government assistance. There is no safety net for our family. I do not know when I will be able to reopen my business, and with each passing day the bills continue to pile up. Rent, utilities, and food are basic necessities, yet right now they feel impossibly out of reach.

With great humility, I am asking for help. This is something I never thought I would have to do. Any donation, no matter how small, can help us survive this painful and uncertain time. Your kindness would help keep a roof over our heads and ensure that my daughters do not go without food or other basic needs.

Nunca imaginé que tendría que escribir algo así. Hoy escribo con lágrimas en los ojos y miedo en el corazón. La situación en Minneapolis ha puesto nuestra vida de cabeza y, debido a estas circunstancias, mi salón de belleza ubicado en Lake Street se ha visto obligado a cerrar. Ese salón lo era todo para nosotros. Era la manera en que ponía comida en la mesa, pagaba la renta y cuidaba de mis hijas. De la noche a la mañana, nuestra única fuente de ingresos desapareció.

Lo que no me deja dormir por las noches es el miedo de perder la capacidad de proteger a mis hijas. Tengo un temor profundo, especialmente por mi hija Judith. Ella nació ciega, tiene autismo y depende de mí absolutamente para todo: orientación, seguridad, consuelo y amor. Yo soy sus ojos en este mundo. Pensar que no pueda cuidarla o cubrir sus necesidades básicas me rompe el corazón de una manera que no puedo describir.

Debido a que Judith nació en México, no recibimos ningún tipo de ayuda del gobierno. No existe una red de apoyo para nuestra familia. No sé cuándo podré reabrir mi negocio y, mientras tanto, cada día las cuentas siguen acumulándose. La renta, los servicios y la comida son necesidades básicas, pero en este momento parecen inalcanzables.

Con mucha humildad, estoy pidiendo ayuda, algo que nunca pensé que tendría que hacer. Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, puede ayudarnos a sobrevivir este momento tan doloroso e incierto. Su generosidad nos ayudará a mantener un techo sobre nuestras cabezas y a asegurar que mis hijas no carezcan de comida ni de lo más básico.
