Protect Mobile Privacy from National Surveillance

Donation protected

Do you want your mobile communications to be secure?

Of course you do, and millions of consumers who pay their monthly cell phone bill should expect it. However, I have proof that mobile phones have been the target of unauthorized surveillance activity for years.  In fact, there have been millions of surveillance attempts on US phones, and in virtually every country around the world. These cyberattacks are originated by nations and organized crime using other mobile operators around the world where democracy is compromised and there are few laws to protect citizens. They exploit vulnerabilities left open in the technical standards of international roaming.  They target military personnel, journalists, professionals and government employees.  I've provided evidence of this espionage activity, have published research, and started a US non-profit company to further these efforts.

My name is Gary Miller, and I used to work for a mobile cybersecurity software company.  I've spent virtually my entire career working as a mobile industry insider.

In 2020 I left the company and revealed myself as a whistleblower to do a story with The Guardian to expose mobile operators who let nations and organized criminals rent access to their networks, using it to target phones for surveillance.  The unauthorized mobile surveillance industry has generated billions in revenue, with such shady firms such as the NSO Group, The Hacking Team, Nexa Technologies/Intellexa, Ability Inc, Circles, Candiru, and many others financially benefitting from exploiting mobile telecommunications networks.  Since the story broke in December, I have received legal Cease and Desist letters from mobile companies threatening to sue me.  Mobile espionage is a massive privacy violation and information on these cyber attacks is pretty much hidden from the public.  Since leaving the industry, my US non-profit Corporation called Mobile Intelligence Alliance was created to make this information available to the public.

Fortunately, the good people at the law firm Whistleblower Aid have helped to protect me from legal action on multiple fronts.

I am asking for your help so that I can disclose more mobile privacy violations, because I have more evidence of attacks from around the world and I would like you to see it. I am working with more news organizations like TechCrunch and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism to help spread the world about mobile location tracking, voice and SMS interception.  I've notified the FBI and have made disclosures to Congress and multiple US agencies of these operations and with support from the public, progress will be made to improve user privacy.

However, I cannot do this on my own and need support so that I can continue my work to bring to light threats to user privacy and work with more news organizations to reveal these threats. I have colleagues in the industry who are also willing to help.

Feel free to check out the insights and threat maps on the MIA website . Thank you for reading, and if you can place a donation to support this action, I would be very grateful.

I will update you on the progress of my battle to reveal privacy violations.
