Help me preserve my father's remaing hearing.

Hello everyone,

My father is deaf in one ear and has severe damage to his remaining

ear. He is a musician who has been slowly losing his ability to hear himself. However, his insatiable drive to continue playing live music pushes him along.

He has tried just about every hearing protection available but has struggled

with the discomfort of having foreign objects in or on his ears and the associated muffled sound.

Recently, we attended a professional musician trade show, better known as the National Association of Music Merchants or NAMM. While at this show, we stumbled upon a booth represented by ASI Audio/Sensaphonics, a company run by Audiologists for performing artists, both large and small.

They even made test molds for his ears and allowed him to experience it firsthand. When he put them on, his attitude switched from skeptical at best to sobbing in seconds, as he had never once in his life ever experienced sound coming from that side of his head.

This has been the only thing he has talked about for the past week, and employer-provided insurance has shot down any hopes of covering part of the cost.

I have watched the light slowly go dim in his eyes as his hearing degrades. I saw some of that light shine when he 'heard' with his right(deaf) ear for the first time.

I am desperately trying to figure out a way to obtain this device so he can continue pursuing his passion without the inevitable degradation of his hearing.

Please help me protect his remaining ability to hear and enable him to continue his musical passion. Thank you for your time and thought.
