Help me play for Great Britain this summer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kizzy Whitehead. I am immensely proud to say that I have been chosen to play for the GB Under 20 Women's Ultimate Frisbee team. I am 15 years old (one of the youngest on the team) and have never competed to such a high level.
Ultimate (also known and ultimate frisbee) is a self-officiated sport played with a disc. A cross between American Football and Netball, 7-a-side teams work to complete a pass into an endzone to score a goal. During international competition, we play two 100-minute games per day, so the demands on our physical and mental fitness are huge. You can find out more about team GB by clicking here.
I started my ultimate journey in October 2023, however only properly started playing seriously, training harder, and more consistently since October 2024. My coach (who is also a physics teacher at my secondary school), started an all-women’s session last winter where women and girls with varying age and experience, come together once a week to train. I have only felt personal improvement since starting these trainings. Before this, I would play with my peers, similar in age, at my school.
I was not expecting to be picked as one of the 23 women to represent our country playing a sport I love, and I am incredibly excited to play alongside 22 amazing girls from all over the UK. This Year, we will be competing in the European Youth Ultimate Championships in Slovakia from the 1st to the 9th of August. This is where I am asking for your help. I am creating this GoFundMe page to raise money to help me play in the summer. My parents are very generously going to help me where they can and I'm doing what I can. However, as I am sitting my GCSEs in a couple of months, I'm struggling to balance revision and a job. Therefore, I am asking for any donation where possible, whether that be used for transport, accommodation, kit, equipment and training costs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my story and there's no pressure but I appreciate your support.
Lots of love, Kizzy.
