Hi, my name is Laura, and on the 14th September 2025 I’m turning 30. (Woop Woop!)

For such a big birthday, I’ve been thinking about how to celebrate three decades on this planet. I have done pretty much everything I’ve want to do and no amount of gifts, travelling or experiences will match what I have already done or already have. So to mark this occasion, I would love to give back to nature by planting a tree in my local community.

Why am I doing this?

I‘ve spent the majority of my life in the countryside; I played in parks as a kid, gone for long walks in fields as a teenager and have been lucky enough to have my own garden as an adult. One thing I have learnt over the course of these 30 years is that we share our planet with some of the most amazing wildlife who, like us, are just trying to get by in the world.

Tree’s are a crucial part of our ecosystem, they purify our air, they provide shade on hot days for all species, they provide a home for all sorts of wildlife, maintains healthy soil and the list goes on… And quite frankly, there is not as many as there could be in 2025. I want to change that where I can.

What’s my plan?

As soon as I knew I wanted to do this, I reached out to a local tree charity in my area, Reading Tree Wardens, and one of their representatives is helping me find the perfect place and tree type to plant in my local area.

The money I raise here will be used to buy the tree, planting and maintenance resources to ensure we have everything we need to achieve this goal. Any additional money raised here will be donated to the Reading Tree Wardens so they can continue to plant and maintain tree is our area moving forward.

I will be planting the tree myself in October along with the Reading Tree Wardens’ help to this tree thrive. I will update with how this journey progresses, with hopefully photos along the way!
