Hi my name is Rachel and I live in the U.K. Since dealing with the loss of my father last year I've had to deal with carrying out the probate process as well as the upkeep of our family home which I have lived in all my life.
Unfortunately it is an old house and as such the number of repairs that need to be carried out in the home have increased over the last two years, most notably a lot of re-wiring so that the house is re-earthed. On top of this due to the rising costs of living in the U.K I am also struggling to pay my utilities despite being in work, as all my wages are being spilt between trying to spilt money between the costs of the work needing to be done on the house and paying the electricity bills.
The cost of re-wiring the lower floor(to start with) will be about £4,500, but that still leaves the matter of keeping on top of my energy bills. A target of £7000, will allow me to pay for the re-wiring outright, as well as being able to clear the large bills, giving me a piece of mind for the following months.
This house contains many happy memories for me and my father and it is my wish to continue living in it to create more happy memories, with eventually a family and children of my own where they can grow up hearing stories of their grandfather.
To give you an idea of still needs to be done to the house:
A garden fence needs to be replaced.
My downstairs toilet and bathroom need to be gutted and renovated, as one of the pipes burst causing extensive floor damage and the extractor fan has completely stopped working causing damp to rise.
I have also had to stop working because of chronic health issues.
And my utility bills continue to rise.
I know £15,000 sounds like a lot but it would really put a massive dent in what I need to pay in order to make my life in this house liveable.
Please guys I don't want to lose my home.
