Hey, my name is Isabela and I'm fundraising in order to stay in Canada.

 

I'm a 27-year-old international student who worked for 6 years in Brazil as an English teacher saving money to come to Canada.

 

My dream is to be able to stay as a permanent resident so I can build my life here and help provide for my family back home, considering that Brazil's situation is currently devastating more and more families every day.

 

I am working as much as the government allows me to and doing side jobs whenever possible (only 20 hours a week, making my income around 1200 a month) in order to make ends meet and I have been able to support myself for over a year in Canada. (By myself paying rent, food, transportation, clothing, phone bill and etc)

 

However, in order to stay in Canada I must go to a public university and tuition costs around 35,000 Canadian dollars for international students (4 times more than for Canadians and permanent residents) and only being able to work part time, it is impossible to save up for that amount of money. Especially considering I'm not eligible for government assistance such as OSAP or even health assistance such as OHIP (I have to pay for health insurance as well.)

 

Covid has strongly impacted my family back in Brazil (my dad has passed away in 2016 so I really only have my mom) and they haven't been able to assist me since I moved here in October 2020.

 

Not only I need money for tuition but I also need money to renew my Visa, which costs about $ 350 CAD.

 

If you can, please help me achieve my dream of getting a good education and stay in Canada to have a better life quality and provide for my family back home. I have been working as hard as I can but unfortunately it is impossible to do this alone and I'm not the type of person who goes down without a fight.

I've worked really hard to be here and I'm not ready to give up.
