Help me save my home while I fight leukemia!

Late last year, in November, my mom was diagnosed with leukemia, launching our family into an incredibly distressing last few months. Everyone in our family had to stop what they were doing, including my mom.

My mom, Blanca, went into the hospital for 6 weeks for chemotherapy and was allowed to leave just right before the Holidays. She has been at home ever since awaiting news of the next steps to overcome this illness.

Doctors told us was that, for best chances of survival, she will have to undergo a bone marrow transplant. But, for this, she needs to find a donor with as close a genetic match as possible. Everyone in the family was checked, but, unfortunately, none of us were.

HOWEVER, WE HAVE GOOD NEWS! Doctors managed to find a match living in California and this person has agreed to donate their bone marrow to my mom.

My mom will be transferred to City of Hope hospital in Duarte, CA toward the end of March and will be there for at least a month to undergo the procedure.

Unfortunately, my mom has not been working for the past 3 months and is projected to not be able to return to work for another 3, AT THE VERY LEAST!

My mom separated from her long-time husband of 30 years in 2018 and is currently living by herself with my 2 other siblings. She is struggling to pay for her home and is in danger of losing it.

My mom, Blanca, is an immigrant from Guatemala, the oldest daughter in her family, who came to the US by herself in the early 1980s in the midst of the Guatemalan Civil War. She has raised 3 kids, sending 1 to college and graduate school. She has worked every odd job available to an immigrant woman in this, from babysitting, to house cleaning, and most recently as a store clerk at a Rite Aid in MacArthur Park, the center of the Central American community in Los Angeles. She is a sweet and shy person who is fiercely loyal to her friends and family and sacrifices herself every day for them.

My mom has been lucky to have health insurance throughout this journey, but, unfortunately, is still dealing with these latest financial troubles.

I am reaching out to ask for your help! We are immensely grateful for all your kind words and prayers. Whatever you can give, even just a share, would be appreciated a 1000X more!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, my friends! I love you all and promise to be there for you however and whenever I can as well!

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
