Help Melissa Access Life-Changing Medical Care ❤️
My name is Milka, and I am raising funds for my daughter, Melissa.
Melissa is 34 years old, a pharmacist, and one of the strongest people I know. Before becoming ill, she dedicated her life to helping others through her work and was living a full and independent life. Today, after years of complex illness, many of the things most people take for granted have become incredibly difficult.
Over the past several years, Melissa has been battling a devastating combination of chronic health conditions, including severe Dysautonomia/POTS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Long COVID, chronic neuroinflammation, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), debilitating pain, gastrointestinal dysfunction, mould toxicity, and other complex medical conditions.
Melissa’s illness has also led to significant cardiovascular complications. She has experienced episodes of Kounis Syndrome—sometimes referred to as an “allergic heart attack”—a rare condition in which severe allergic and inflammatory reactions can affect the coronary arteries and the heart. Due to inflammation-related damage to her arteries, Melissa required the placement of a cardiac stent. Her medical team continues to work towards stabilising her underlying conditions and achieving remission to reduce the risk of further serious and potentially life-threatening complications.
Every day she experiences a magnitude of symptoms with a some being; severe nausea, burning nerve pain, headaches, body aches, dizziness, extreme fatigue, food intolerances, and significant limitations in her ability to function. She describes it as “ having a severe flu, feeling hungover, migraine, neuropathy, chronic pain, gastro and debilitating mental effects” all happening simultaneously. Despite seeing numerous specialists, undergoing extensive testing, trying countless medications and therapies, and enduring multiple hospital admissions, Melissa continues to face immense challenges.
Melissa has been unable to return to the life she once had and now requires extensive medical care and support. As her family, we are committed to pursuing every reasonable avenue that may help improve her quality of life and restore some of her independence.
We are seeking support to help fund ongoing specialist consultations, interstate travel and accommodation, advanced investigations, medications, rehabilitation therapies, medical-grade Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), potential FMT treatment, and any future treatments recommended by her medical team.
Due to the complexity of Melissa’s condition, her specialists are exploring a number of advanced treatment options, including plasmapheresis (therapeutic plasma exchange) and specialist stem cell therapies. Some of these treatments may require interstate or international travel, creating significant additional costs for our family.
Our hope is simple: to give Melissa the best possible chance of recovery and a future where she can once again enjoy the things most people take for granted.
Thank you for taking the time to read Melissa’s story. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue fighting for answers, treatment, and hope. If you are unable to donate, sharing Melissa’s story with your family and friends would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.
With love,
Milka, Melissa, and our family ❤️
