OMG am I a mess but I didn't used to be. Left my practice here in 2013 after a couple of surgeries that came as the result of a little SUV/bicycle accident, moved to Florida and bought a small bit of property on a short sale. I took care of my property and got in a gallery with my art. in 2022 I negotiated and purchased a Nissan Rogue with good mileage and no problems, which I paid cash for. I ultimately moved back to Oklahoma that year to be closer to my family. I then rapidly became deconditioned since I was no longer working my fannie off and started having back problems. I am now in line for a 10 level fusion with rods after the first of 2026. My Neuro recently required that I have kidney stones removed before that surgery that turned out to be three surgeries,, resulting in blood clots in my lungs. Earlier in time, I came home in my Nissan and turned into my parking space. Before I completed the turn I was racing towards the concrete barrier I totaled my car, had two black eyes, a hematoma on my knee the size of a softball. Hello Sleep Apnea! For the next fourteen months I traveled by Uber. I depleted a great amount of my savings taking them from downtown during rush hour at twice what it cost during regular hours, blah, blah. On December 26 of that year I found a car on Marketplace that was really cheap, low mileage etc., and I was desperate. So without using Carfax or getting an inspection, I bought the damn thing. I would finally do a Carfax only to find out it had been totaled twice and had not only a bent frame but two cracks in it-no wonder it had such low mileage. I won't bore you with my car woes except to say it stopped running completely two weeks ago. A friend helped me tow it to AAA who did an inspection and gave me an estimate of $11,000 plus to fix it. Meanwhile, my lease is up where I live in less than 6 weeks, and with no savings I cannot afford to stay here, so I am frantically looking for something cheaper, without a car to search with, and since I dropped the rest of my savings into the car, I have nothing for deposits, first month's rent or movers. I have never had to do anything like this but don't think I've ever felt this powerless-or broke. Did I mention that I am probably the only attorney in OKC living on a fixed income. Help....
