Help me out to get my shoulder surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diego. I’m a senior nurse with the NHS for over 11 years, passionate about promoting and providing care.
Many years ago, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia, causing chronic pain and hindering my ability to work effectively.
I’ve been on a waiting list for spinal surgery for two years, with no foreseeable date.
Recently, a severe left shoulder injury has caused significant pain, limited mobility, sleep problems, and hampered my work performance. Extensive pain medication, physiotherapy, and corticosteroid injections haven’t alleviated the problem. Surgery is the only viable option. I am currently prescribed controlled drugs to deal with the pain but they don't really help much.
I cannot afford the lengthy wait on the NHS waiting list. I love my job and want to continue providing care, but the constant pain is unbearable.
I can't complain about the NHS workers. As you can see, sometimes we are working in very unpleasant conditions. But sadly the system is collapsed and slow, and we can't provide or receive the care we all deserve.
Private surgery costs roughly £4,000, including consultations, diagnostics, tests, and pre-anesthetic assessment.
Cost breakdown:
Consultation £250
Test and Scans £700
Procedure (Arthroscopy) £2500-£3000
Includes one day of stay at the hospital
Those are the main costs. There will be medication and Physio on discharge but I know we are all struggling with the raised cost of living and I would be more than grateful if I get enough funding to cover the above expenses.
Your contribution will help me get the surgery I need to resume my nursing career after a short recovery. I cannot continue working in such pain, every little you can do, will help.
Thank you so much.
