My name is Sari Moilala. I am beginning my career as an artist. I live and work in Finland. My biggest and most important exhibition to date, set to take place at Gallery A2 in Helsinki, is facing some difficulties.

I graduated with a bachelor of art in 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, the first year went well, and my works were sold to various places, including the Pori Art Museum and the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Peru.

I was offered a contract to exhibit at this prestigious gallery and managed to save enough money to cover the rental fee, as it is common for artists to pay this cost in Finland. However, things took a turn when Russia invaded Ukraine, which brought about a general sense of insecurity globally. In Finland, prices went up, and many companies went bankrupt. My sales dropped by half, and I had to use up all my savings.

That is why I am seeking your help organizing this exhibition. I have been working on it for two years and cannot cancel it now, as I have to pay for the rental anyway. Any amount of support is greatly appreciated.

Something about me as an artist

As an abstract painter, I love creating large and colorful works that aim to express emotions, rather than reality. The inspiration for this exhibition's pieces came from erotic poetry from 900 BC. Amidst all the negativity in the world, reading such beautiful and innocent texts has been a source of comfort for me.

I paint out of a love for colors and nature. The subjects come from nature, the environment, poetry, and colors. In my paintings, I travel between the present and the past. cannot stop painting as colors constantly swirl around my mind. When I am not painting, I am thinking about painting

What will the donated funds be used for

The primary use of donated funds will go towards the rental fee of the exhibition space, which amounts to €3,240. The remaining funds will cover other costs such as packing, transporting, hanging, and dismantling all artworks.
