Help Me Officiate at the Roller Derby World Cup!

Hi, I’m Jennifer and I've been a roller derby official since 2016. This year, I have the honour of officiating at the Roller Derby World Cup in Innsbruck Austria. This is an international event bringing together skaters and officials from around the globe. I’m one of the few Canadian officials selected to participate, and I’m also proud to represent the small number of Black officials in this sport.

Roller derby is more than just a sport - it’s an inclusive, empowering community where people of all backgrounds, skills, body types, and identities come together to compete, officiate, and support each other. Roller derby has been a huge part of my life, giving me confidence, skills, and friendships that extend beyond the track. I've gained leadership and communication skills and even enough skating skills to stop embarrassing myself at my local skating rink .

Being an official has allowed me to contribute to the sport I love, ensuring fair play, safety and helping the game grow.

The World Cup is the biggest event I’ve ever been part of and attending will give me the chance to develop my skills, expand my experience with diverse crews and allow to me learn from others. It will also give me the chance to showcase the talent and dedication of Canadian and Black officials in the sport.

Roller derby officials are volunteers and as such, my participation is entirely self-funded. I’m seeking support to help cover travel

to the event. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help me get there and represent our community on the international stage.
