Help me Nurse my Mom back to Health

Donation protected
Dear Community,

My name is Abby and I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my mom who was hospitalized this past weekend due to her blood pressure and sugar being very high. My mom is diabetic, and the doctor has informed me that her lungs and kidneys aren't doing so good.  We suspect that she contracted COVID, this past month after attending a funeral. Our family has been going through various hardships as two of my mom's sisters (my aunts) have passed away due to natural causes. I was able to attend the funeral in Mexico and when I came back to the U.S., I tested positive for COVID and was able to fully recover as of last week.

I find myself in a situation to ask for help as I have been the sole provider for my mom and myself since she was deported in 2010.  Ever since our family was separated, I have dedicated my life to stopping deportations, so that no one has to experience what we have gone through, and continue to endure.  Its not easy for me to ask for help, as I have always figured out a way to get through, but I'm here humbly asking for the community's support to save my mom's life. My personal funds have been depleted since I just went to Mexico to attend the funeral and the costs of taking care of myself when I contracted COVID. As a result I had to use my sick and vacation time, and have limited paid time off.

I will be leaving to Mexico starting December 2020 to take care of her and nurse her back to health since the rest of my family currently have limited capacity. All of the donations received will be going towards to this effort, specifically:

1. Roundtrip flight for myself
2. Hospital costs that was accrued as of recent
3. Specialized Doctor visits and medicine costs
3. Gas and Transportation costs
4. Rent money for apartment where my mom and I will be living temporarily that is located close to her doctor, since hospitals in Mexico are severely impacted due to the COVID crisis. So we have secured safe space for my mom to recover
5. Groceries
6.  Apartment necessities to make the place handicap accessible.

Globally, the COVID crisis has hit us hard, but especially in our home countries that have even more limited resources and medical care. It is common knowledge in our hometown, that if you are hospitalized COVID or Non-COVID related, it is very likely that you might not come out alive. It is a hard reality we are confronting as a people and I want to do everything that I can do for my mom. On behalf of myself and my family we thank you and humbly accept anything you can contribute.

Best,
