Help Me & My Son Rebuild After Storm Damage Displaced Us
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nai Malone, and I never imagined I’d have to write something like this.
On July 8, 2025, a powerful storm hit our area and caused a huge tree to fall, not just into our neighborhood, but directly onto my home, damaging the second floor and crashing into my son’s bedroom. Thankfully, we weren’t hurt, but we were immediately displaced. His gaming area was hit. Our patio was destroyed. And we had no choice but to leave the home that gave us comfort and safety.
The Red Cross helped us get a hotel for the night, and more help may come, but right now everything has shifted and we’re in survival mode.
Since then, we’ve faced:
• Hotel expenses
• Eating out daily because we can’t cook
• Gas costs from borrowing family cars while mine was down
• Lost income, because I couldn’t go to work and I don’t get paid if I don’t show up
• The emotional weight of watching my child process the loss of his room and sense of normal
I’m also in therapy working through the mental strain of this, but the stress is real and constant.
We’re doing everything we can, but we need help bridging the gap while insurance is still processing and resources are limited.
If you feel called to help, any donation, big or small, will help cover:
• Temporary housing and food
• Gas and transportation costs
• Clothing or personal care items lost or damaged
• Therapy co-pays or emotional recovery support
• Just getting through this until things stabilize again
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for lifting us up in such a vulnerable time.
With gratitude,
Nai & Riley
