Hi, my name is Genesis. I’m a mother to a beautiful 2-year-old baby girl. I never imagined I would be in this position, asking for help from strangers, but I have no other choice.
I am trapped in a domestic violence situation with no family or friends nearby to help me escape. I’ve been trying to find resources and shelters, but everything is over capacity. I recently lost my job and now I’m facing eviction.
My abuser has been arrested multiple times, but every time I try to leave, he threatens to take my baby away because I have no job or money to fight back.
I was forced to live with him because I don’t have family around, and I was trying to keep my job to make sure my baby had everything she needed. He refused to be a father to her unless I let him have a place to stay.
I can’t take it anymore. I have lost everything — my job, my home — and in the process, I lost myself too. I have never been in a situation like this before. I was always on top of my finances, independent, and strong. But after giving birth, postpartum depression took over, and he made my depression and self-esteem hit an all-time low.
It’s embarrassing and painful to share this, but I have no choice. I desperately need help to get my daughter and myself out before it’s too late. I want to move to another state where I do have family who can help us start fresh and finally be safe.
My daughter deserves a safe, happy childhood and a mother who can be strong for her. I just want to give her a life free from fear and pain.
If you can find it in your heart to help us, any amount would make a difference. Even if you can’t donate, sharing our story would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for caring.
