Greetings, this is Geoffrey, founder of Lowthian Design Works. I'm reaching out for a little help on an important move.
I have been helping nonprofits and cause-driven organizations with their website needs for over 20 years. What started with one website has now grown to over 30 clients. I have always maintained an affordable rate, especially for 501c3 nonprofit organizations. Part of the way I was able to do that was by offering free hosting with a partnership with a hosting provider that offered free hosting to nonprofits. Unfortunately, over the last few months, the free offering has proven to be less than is needed to provide fast, problem-free websites. With increased needs for WordPress and increased demands on shared hosting platforms, I can no longer recommend the free hosting for nonprofits as I have in the past.
After researching alternatives, I have settled on GreenGeeks as a new hosting platform. They offer a reseller program where I can resell the hosting to my clients that are not nonprofit and then continue offering free hosting to my nonprofit clients.
GreenGeeks has also been recognized by the EPA, since 2009, as a Green Power Partner. Looking forward to offering all of my clients a greener platform.
The challenge is that I need to purchase the server space three years in advance to achieve the savings required to make this work. So I need the upfront investment as my clients who pay for hosting have already paid for this year's hosting on the current provider which in turn I have already paid for on the current provider.
The $2,000 breaks down as follows:
$1258.20 for most sites on one shared hosting service.
$214.20 x 3 for sites that need extra resources
$99.20 to cover the cost of GoFund me and a few dollars left over to make it an even amount.
I appreciate your consideration of this campaign. If successful, you will be helping me with an increasing challenge to continue offering affordable services to the organizations I have been so proud to support over the years.
Thank you,
Geoffrey
