Hey friends, here's the quick take: I'm moving in 6 days (yikes, still so much to do!) I need community support to do it, so I'm crowdsourcing through my network. Anything helps! If you can't give bucks, you can still help by sharing/reposting my updates. 60% of what I've raised to date came from shares.
Why I need so much help: I’ve been juggling unexpected freelance work setbacks, multiple rent hikes, and a four-year health condition similar to chronic fatigue + fibromyalgia. I’ve been squeaking by, living gig to gig, with no savings. A crucial step toward recovery is to pay less for basic needs.
A sudden, wild wind of luck dropped the perfect living space into my orbit — twice the space for less money in a favorite old Tempe neighborhood. I’m excited, & also daunted by all the work of just packing up given my physical challenges, so I must pay for help.
Hey, what’s all that money for?
$2000 – Move-in costs to owner, due 04/01 – 70% raised, thank you!
Still needed:
$500 – Move-in cleaning (incl. steam/sanitize old wall-to-wall carpets) – due 03/24 –
$650 – Uhaul rental + loaders/unloaders
$350-ish – Move-out cleaning + light landscaping
$300+ – final & new utility bills/fees
Plus, unknown cost of replacing some furniture I’ll need, gas $ back & forth, and, realistically, take-out food in the final week when I’m frantic.
If you have time and are curious, read on for the longer version of my Tempe history, and why I'm psyched to be moving back there!
I lived in Tempe from my first semester at ASU in 1984, until 1996. Many of you know me from there. (The cover image is circa 1992 in my Wilson St. apt, 117A — since torn down — right down the street from my new place! The other 2 images are from recent visits to Tempe).
The place I'm moving to has been previously occupied by friends, and I've been acquainted with the owner for years. This is a serendipitous chance that I can't pass up, and it's going to feel fabulous to reconnect with all of my old community in the area!
As I confront the realities of packing and moving lightning fast, I'm both chaos surfing and crowdsourcing! I know times have been tough for many of us, and if you can't donate, I get it. Still, with enough donations of varying sizes, we can get me moved!
Thanks in advance for any and all support. Whatever you can without hurtin' yourself.
