Hi family/friends and community members!
This gofundme is to help with an unexpected loss of housing and get through my last year of nursing school. I started my journey toward becoming a nurse about four years ago, and I have worked in the medical field for the past three years. Recently, I was told I have to move out of my home. Moving right now is extra hard because I have an elderly dog named Ash and will be in the middle of my third semester of nursing school. Ash is my life, and I can’t give him up. The housing market is tight in Humboldt County, but it’s even harder to find a place with a pet. Before being asked to move, I had everything budgeted out to get me through school and into a career as a nurse on my own. Now I need your help.
My goal is to raise funds to move into a new place and cover some of the costs of living/education for the next school year. This money will be spent primarily on housing (first, last and security deposit) but can also help with textbooks, uniforms (scrubs), my nursing board testing fee/license ($1,000), and transportation. I have a few places lined up that I am applying for, including the possibility of buying a used trailer and living in an RV park.
In return for your generous donations, I will donate my time to some vital non-profit organizations in my area. My goal is to complete 200 hours of volunteering over the next school year (September - May). I already volunteer with the food bank in my area (https://www.foodforpeople.org/) and do medical support at local events. I will be looking for other volunteer opportunities and updating this page with info on my volunteer journey.
I appreciate any amount you can give. Thank you so much!!!
Watch for updates about educational progress and my home hunting too!
TLDR: I am in nursing school and have to leave my current home. I have an elderly dog that makes it hard to find housing. I don't have enough money to do this on my own, and I am asking for funds to cover moving costs and some costs related to school/living. In return, I will do 200 hours of volunteering at local non-profit organizations over the next year. Anything you can give is much appreciated. :)
