My 2024 Drum Corps Plan
Hi, I'm Eli, and I was recently contracted with the Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps in the drum set position in the front ensemble, which means that I will be playing a stationary drum set at the front of the field along with a guitarist, mallet percussion players, synthesizer players, and rack percussionists. I will attend one weekend camp per month until June, when we have “move-ins" and I will be living down in Kennewick with the corps, working hard on our music all day, every day.
I am very excited at this chance for me, as having this opportunity has been a significant goal of mine and is a serious achievement that took hundreds of hours of hard work. Marching in any drum corps in Drum Corps International (the association that runs the competitions) is a fantastic asset to have on your musical resumé. Since I will be a Percussion Performance major at CWU next year, adding the drum corps experience to my list of credentials will be significant in my future as a performer, and artist.
With this opportunity, however, comes a price tag. Along with the significant time, effort, and focus commitment, drum corps is also very financially demanding, as it takes a massive amount of money to make the whole operation happen. Although the Columbians, along with many drum corps, are a nonprofit, it is still necessary for them to collect tuition from members to keep the program running.
This is why I ask you to consider donating to my fund to pay for this experience. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, as I am in a stage where I am also about to start college and be living very frugally for the foreseeable future. I am absolutely committed to being a part of this program, and it would mean a lot to me if you contributed to help me achieve my goals.
