Rojo: A Reflection Through Sound
Rojo is not just an album. It is my story—told through music.
This record gathers works that have accompanied me through years of transformation, doubt, joy, and healing. It is a musical journal that reflects who I am as a guitarist, a Cuban artist, and a believer in the power of sound to hold memory and meaning.
To be released under the vision of Prima Classics, Rojo is a curated collection of Hispanic and Latin American guitar repertoire, featuring music by Tárrega, Brouwer, Villa-Lobos, Turina, Morel, Rivera, and Montero. Each work was chosen with care; together, they form a portrait of roots, passion, and identity.
The title Rojo represents the spirit of the album. Red is intensity, love, strength, and life. It is also a loving homage to my dear friend and mentor, Grammy-winning composer Claudia Montero, whose encouragement carried me through the quiet uncertainty of the pandemic and brought me back to my instrument when I needed it most.
This album is a tribute—to those who believed in me, guided me, and shaped my path. I dedicate Rojo especially to my grandfather Papi, my grandmother Abu, and my aunt Conchita, whose love, strength, and artistry live in every note.
Forged during a moment of vulnerability and healing, Rojo carries honest breaths, unfiltered emotion, and deep humanity. Beyond the traces of grief, there is joy remembered, resilience renewed, and love at its core.
This is my heart, my history, and my homage. And now, I offer it to you—with love.
