hey hey! most of you probably know me as Oak (they/them), your local gender ambiguous human living on Kaurna Land.

I first knew that I was queer from quite a young age, but it took until I was in my senior years that I came out as "not straight". Since then, I've explored my sexuality and gender identity once i left school and a un-supportive relationship. While I've identified differently over recent years, I think I've come to find that myself falling under the cryptic term gender-queer.

So why the gofundme? honestly the recent political environment, both overseas and here in Australia. The LGBT+ community, especially the Trans community are majorly under fire right now, with erasure of our history and rights. As a result of this, and some of the anti-trans agendas being spread around Australia, I grow ever more concerned that my chances of accessing gender-affirming care are becoming increasingly more unlikely, or likely way harder to access.

I have spent 25 years with this body that has never really felt truly like home, whether that was due to my mental health struggles or due to body dysphoria when it comes to my chest. I have spent the last almost ten years fighting for what are just basic human rights as a gender-queer individual and I have finally decided that its time i make this vessel i've been given a home so that I can experience true queer euphoria and trans joy.

the funds I am fundraising for will cover the procedure, the specialist appointments and the post op binder that is needed for in my recovery.
