I’m turning 50 this February 2nd, 2022 and you are going to help me make it unforgettable!
Dear friends, 25 years ago I was frightened as you can never imagine when I was boarding a plane for the first time in my life to come to this amazing country: The USA. As you can imagine I was single, very young, and according to my girlfriend of that time, amazingly handsome.
In a blink of an eye, 25 years have passed and very soon I will be turning 50 years old!!!
Is 50 the beginning of a new life? Is it a special moment to be reborn? Is it going to be the beginning of the most productive time in my life? Who knows? What I DO KNOW is that with a little help from you my 50th BIRTHDAY could be unforgettable!
So here is how you can help me:
I’m NOT asking for material presents (A house in the Hamptons, a boat, a plane, etc.) …. If you probably know a bit about me through all these years, you may know that I’m not a capitalist, and that is why I decided to become a language teacher simply because that’s my gift from God.
I’m asking you for a donation to make my dream of traveling to Paris come true, where I plan to visit among many attractions, Père Lachaise Cemetery (The City of Immortals) (1). As you may recall, death came straight to my family three years ago when my mother-in-law lost a long battle against cancer, and then again two years ago when I lost my mom out of a heart attack. As you may imagine, these tragic losses brought serious depression to both my wife and me and in part of my healing process, I have become a sort of taphophile (cemetery lover). And here I quote Oscar Wilde:
“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.”
So to make my 50 birthday memorable, would you consider donating $1, 5 or perhaps, $10, 20, etc., but please no more than $100 (I do not want you to go into bankruptcy because of my 50th birthday)(2). Your donation would allow me to get in a plane and fly just by myself again 25 years later after my very first flight so that I can spend five to ten days in Paris to celebrate my 50th birthday.

______NOTES:______
(1) I promise you that if I raise more than the anticipated expenses ($3,200) the remaining balance will go to my family’s Non For Profit organization CONPALABRAS, which has been helping to provide proper education to orphan disenfranchised kids in Cali, Colombia through the beautiful game of soccer for the last seven years.
(2) I'm not broke or anything like that. With my modest teacher's salary, I certainly can afford a birthday trip for myself. This GoFundMe campaign is part of my personal "social experiment" in attempting to make my 50th Birthday UNFORGETTABLE!!!
Thank you ALL for your love and support
(Desde ya les agradezco a todxs por su amor y apoyo).
