Hi, my name is Fiona Wilson, and I’m reaching out with the most difficult and hopeful ask of my life.

After years of hard work, self-doubt, and personal struggle, I was accepted into my dream school in Ireland. For the first time, I saw a future that made sense. But now, the funding I was counting on has fallen through, and I’m at risk of losing this opportunity completely.

Why This Means Everything

I live in Florida, but I’ve never felt like this was where I truly belonged. Ireland has always felt like home in my heart — and this college is more than just a school to me. It represents a second chance at a future I once couldn’t even picture.

For over a decade, I’ve struggled with my mental health and the constant weight of grief. The person I lost last year was my biggest supporter, my rock, my everything; and the night I decided to apply to this university was the first time I felt a glimmer of hope again. I’m partially doing this for them. I know they’d want me to go for it. So, I applied thinking I had nothing to lose. I never thought I’d be accepted. But I was.

Now, I’m doing everything I can to make it real.

Why I Need Help

I deferred my place once already because I couldn’t afford it in time. I can’t defer again. I was promised support for years, but due to political and personal changes, that support has disappeared. I’m heartbroken — not just for the lost funding, but because someone who once believed in my dreams no longer sees them as valuable.

This college is expensive, especially as an international student. Federal loans don’t cover even half of tuition — and that doesn’t include rent, food, travel, books, or basic necessities. I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t do this alone.

My Immediate Need

To accept the housing I’ve secured, (close to campus and all-inclusive), I need to pay a €500 deposit within the next 4 days. Without it, I’ll lose the room and likely won’t find anything affordable this late in the process. Rent is due at the end of July.

This deposit would take a massive weight off my shoulders and allow me to focus on finding solutions for the rest.

My Goal

The goal listed here won’t cover everything — but it’s enough to contribute getting me to Ireland, hold my accommodation at college, and give me a shot at making it work. If I can get that far, I’ll do everything I can to make the rest work. I’m not looking for luxury. I’m just looking for a path forward — for a chance to start again, to find peace, and to build a stable, meaningful life.
