A little over one year ago, I fell and badly broke my ankle and had to have surgery to repair the damage. I was laid up for more than three months and my then-employer had no choice but to replace me, meaning that even when I was theoretically able to work again, I had no job to go back to. I have been looking for employment ever since, but have had no luck. I have some other projects which bring in income, but like all freelance work, that income is sporadic at best.

I hate to keep asking for help and would much rather be working. I am doing the best that I can to change my circumstances and get myself back on my feet, both literally and metaphorically, but that is going to be exponentially harder if I lose my housing.

I have resorted to feeing my cats canned fish and chicken because those are things I can buy with my SNAP benefits. I have sold my car for less than what it was worth because I couldn't afford the insurance and registration, never mind gas and maintenance. I have pared back as much as I can, and still I struggle to keep the wolves from the door. Heck, I struggle to keep a door.

I know times are tough all over and so many of us are struggling and I am deeply, deeply grateful for any help sent my way.
