Hi, my name is Maia, I’m 19 and I’m currently studying Art History at the University of Naples.

My dream is to build a career that makes art accessible to everyone, not just to those who study it, but also to those who have never had the chance to experience it.

I come from a small town in Southern Italy, where opportunities in the arts are limited, but where I’ve learned to nurture my passion with determination and perseverance.

Since childhood, my mother has shared her love of art with me taking me to museums and teaching me to see the beauty hidden behind every painting. That’s when I realized that art could be more than beauty: it could be a way to understand the world, and maybe even to change it.

Against everyone’s advice, I chose to study Art History. And I’ve never regretted it.

I study with passion, achieve excellent results, and every day I’m more convinced that art is not a luxury, but a universal language, one that connects people, breaks down barriers, and helps us see ourselves and each other more clearly.

My Dream: A Master’s at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London

My goal is to enroll in 2028 in the Master’s in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, one of the world’s most prestigious programs for those who want to work in the art and cultural sector.

For me, this Master’s represents the key step to turning my passion into a real career.

I aspire to become a gallery director and curator who can bridge the gap between people and art, to promote emerging artists, and to showcase the extraordinary cultural heritage of Italy on an international level.

I dream of a future where art isn’t seen as something “elitist,” but as a living force, accessible, inclusive, and capable of inspiring and empowering anyone who encounters it.

The total cost of the program is £42,500, plus housing and living expenses in London — one of the most expensive cities in the world.

My plan is to earn a partial scholarship, but it won’t cover all the costs.

I currently work as a waitress, saving as much as I can, but I simply can’t reach that amount on my own.
