Help me make an amazing record produced by Anthony Da Costa!

My name is Mimi Naja, a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Atlanta, GA. I have dedicated my career to my independent Americana band, Fruition, who has been touring extensively since 2008. The music industry, for small and mid-level independent bands, is currently more challenging - financially and logistically - than I’ve seen in my lifetime. Fruition will not be deterred from our collective calling in the face of challenge, and neither will I. In order to stoke the fire for the group, we all also need to create independently, and I want to make the best solo record I possibly can!

I have been on a writing spree this year.

I have dreamed of making a record with Anthony Da Costa since the day we met about 5 years ago. Since that day, he has believed in me and my songs. I've admired his musical wizardry from afar, and had the joy of playing with him a time or two! He is a true tone genius, and his persistence to elevate is unmatched.

Listening to Anthony's many engineer/production projects (my current favorite is the latest record from Charlie Treat - Dawn is Breaking,) I can't express how exciting it is to let him take the reins on where we can go with these songs. Anthony will be able to give them the huge sonic life that I can't give them on my own!

Other featured badasses on this album will be my new friend Will Honaker on bass and more, , and my good friend Mark Raudabaugh on drums (perhaps you've seen his mad skills on tour with Sierra Hull). Tracking will take place in Nashville, and I have a few tricks up my sleeve for some more special guests…

Keeping it in the Fruition family, Tyler Thompson is going to mix it, and Jeff Leonard is going to be a videographer for our tracking sessions! This warms my heart to have some of my guys involved in the project while still striking out independently to see what newness and discoveries will be reached!

I took a leap of faith in the face of financial fear. I deeply believe that most folks can't wait for the opportunity to help those they love, and I am blessed to be loved and nurtured by my musical community and fanbase.

In such a tumultuous and insecure financial time for most Americans (and almost all artists of any kind), we second-guess our paths and the risks involved, but I want to double down. Art is essential. Creative spirits make this world worth engaging in.

Making this record feels important - for me and my purpose here, and for you, those who've been touched by my voice and musical offerings. It is a humble honor to give from the heart, and have it help/heal/soothe so many!
