Hello, I’m Georgia and you may know I’m currently volunteering for one month as a teacher at Unity Primary School in Tanzania. This experience has completely changed my mindset in how the smallest gesture can make the biggest difference.
Unity is a private school, but in Tanzania, that simply means families are doing their best to give their children a chance at a better education — not that they are well-off. The reality is quite the opposite. The school has 90 children and only 9 teachers. They teach using chalkboards, many of which are falling apart, and they have almost no access to technology. Even basic teaching supplies like chalk, pens, and updated textbooks are in short supply.
Despite all this, the children are incredible. They are full of energy, eager to learn, and incredibly resilient. They learn most of their lessons in English and always have a smile on their faces. They’ve truly won over my heart.
One example that really struck me: the school recently needed new roofs for some classrooms. This cost 40,000 Tanzanian shillings — about £16, per roof, per classroom. That’s the cost of two coffees at Starbucks. It’s astonishing how far even a small amount of money can go here.
That’s why I’ve decided to raise funds — to help improve this school while I’m here on the ground and can show you exactly where the money is going. Whether it goes towards new chalkboards, much-needed supplies, or even classroom repairs, every penny will make a real difference.
If you’re able to give — even just the cost of your morning coffee — it will go a long way. I’ll be sharing updates and photos so you can see the direct impact of your generosity.
Thank you so much for supporting these amazing kids and their future.
