Today, June 10 2026, marks two years since I was laid off from my job. While I have been able to get by with consulting and contracted work, managing chronic illness without employer-sponsored healthcare continues to be deeply expensive. I am seeking funds to keep supporting my insurance premium and out of pocket costs.
Living with a chronic illness means that my medical needs are ongoing and unpredictable. Without employer-sponsored healthcare, every month brings new challenges as I try to cover the costs of insurance premiums, co-pays for prescriptions, and durable medical equipment. These expenses add up quickly, and it’s been difficult to keep up while working contract jobs and searching for more stable employment. The stress of not knowing if I’ll be able to afford my next treatment or medication is overwhelming.
Funds raised through this campaign will help me pay for my monthly insurance premium, co-pays for prescriptions, and the medical equipment I rely on. They will also help with daily living costs, which have become harder to manage as my health needs increase. It’s a scary time to be chronically ill, disabled, and underemployed. My access to healthcare is literally life sustaining. While I continue to pursue new consulting and employment opportunities, your support helps alleviate one of my biggest fears—losing access to the quality of care and treatments that keep me functioning. Every dollar raised will help me cover the costs of my care as I continue to figure out the future.
