Help Me Launch My Private Therapy Practice

Donation protected
My journey to becoming a psychotherapist began nearly four years ago. I was working in marketing for a mission-driven software company that helped people overcome pornography. As part of my work, I heard many many stories of pain and heartbreak in the aftermath of addiction. At the same time, I was operating a large online men’s ministry, The Catholic Gentleman, in which I regularly received emails of men asking for help in overcoming relational and mental health struggles.

I enjoyed the work and the people I worked with, but as I heard these stories over and over, I felt a growing call to step out from behind a computer screen and help people directly, one-on-one. This call quickly grew into inescapable conviction: I needed to embark on the journey to become a counselor to help people heal, grow, and flourish.

The past four years have been extremely rewarding. With the support of my wife and children, I stepped out in faith, enrolled at Divine Mercy University, and never looked back. I always knew I was on the path God had for me, and this conviction has sustained me through many difficulties and intense challenges.

But I’ll be honest—becoming a counselor while supporting a family of 7 is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! The last two years since quitting my marketing job have been extremely challenging financially, and our family has made many sacrifices to sustain ourselves, selling almost all possessions of value to make this dream a reality.

As this year draws to a close, I will finally complete my 3,000 hours of supervised practice and will receive my license to practice counseling independently, becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

After much prayer and discernment, I believe the best way for me to help the most people is to open my own private practice. There is a lot of silent mental suffering among Catholics and in the wider public, and the need for trusted mental health services is great.

Yet, as I’ve done research to take this step, I’ve realized there are many costs involved in launching a successful business. You have to invest money to build a successful practice.

That’s where you come in. Your donations will help me launch a successful private therapy practice, rooted and grounded in my Catholic faith and worldview, that will help me help people from all walks of life recover from trauma, addiction, relational difficulties, depression, anxiety, and more.

I estimate that $6,000 would be enough to get me established on a solid foundation. Some of the costs your donations will help with include:

  • Professional and comfortable office space rental
  • Office equipment
  • Bookkeeping/accounting software
  • Website optimization and maintenance
  • Community and online advertising (experts advise $1,000/month minimum to reach your community)
  • Improved computer for online appointments (my current computer is nearly 10 years old)
  • Practice insurance
  • Offer sliding scale fees for those in need
  • And more…

Your donations will help me launch my private practice with confidence and begin serving those with mental health needs. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
