Help me kickstart H for Hope CIC ❤️

I’m raising funds to help get H for Hope CIC off the ground — a new community interest company created to support teenagers and young adults like me living with cancer.

Cancer can be incredibly isolating at any age, but for a teenager or young adult it can feel like your whole world has suddenly become about hospitals, treatment and appointments while everyone around you carries on with normal life.

H for Hope is about changing that.

I want to create a safe, welcoming community where young people affected by cancer can meet others who understand, make friends, have fun and simply be themselves. Friendships suffer and Patients can become quite isolated on their journey. We want to rectify this disconnection...together

That could mean social events, days out, adventures, activities and experiences — opportunities to laugh, connect and make memories away from hospitals and treatment.

And because cancer can also put enormous financial pressure on families, H for Hope will look at practical ways we can help young people who are struggling financially too — whether that’s help with clothing, activities or other everyday costs that can make a difference.

But first, we need to get started.

I’ve recently had a meeting with Derbyshire CVS to begin putting the foundations in place for H for Hope CIC and to look at how we can develop the project and access funding.

But every organisation has to start somewhere.

This is our starting point.

The first money we raise will help us establish H for Hope, develop the project and begin creating the events, activities and support that young people can actually benefit from.

I don’t want H for Hope to be another organisation that simply talks about young people with cancer.

I want us to bring them together.

To give them somewhere to belong.

Somewhere they can meet people who get it.

Somewhere cancer doesn’t have to be the only thing they have in common.

And somewhere they can make memories that have nothing to do with treatment.

If you can donate, however small, you will be helping us take those first steps.

And if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser could be just as valuable.

I’m starting H for Hope because I believe young people facing cancer deserve more than treatment.

They deserve connection.

They deserve friendship.

They deserve fun.

They deserve to belong.
