Two months ago, I adopted Ravioli from the Chilliwack Safe Haven. At the shelter he was anxious, shut down, and very stressed. After just a few weeks in his new home, I’ve watched him slowly come out of his shell. He’s learned to relax, to trust, and to feel safe. He follows me from room to room and finally feels like he’s home.
Very soon after adoption, a mass cell tumor was discovered that needs to be surgically removed. The vet also noticed a possible heart murmur that requires further testing to ensure surgery is safe for him.
So far, I have already paid approximately $400 for the initial biopsy and appointments. I have been quoted:
• Around $800 for an ultrasound
• Around $3,500 for bloodwork and surgery
This brings the estimated total to approximately $4,600–4,700, not including follow-up care if needed.
I want to be honest — I’ve only had Ravioli for two months. I did not expect to face major medical decisions this quickly. The shelter has informed me they cannot provide financial assistance unless I surrender him. I am trying to avoid that as this was missed while in their care. Ravioli has just started to feel safe and bonded here. I want to give him the chance to stay in the home where he has begun to thrive.
This is a lot to take on financially and emotionally, and I can’t do it alone. If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean more than I can express. Every contribution helps give Ravioli the opportunity to keep his second chance.
Thank you for reading and for caring about him.
