I have always worked hard to support myself, starting my first job at 15 and continuing to work well into my seventies. For years, I managed two jobs just to keep up with the rising cost of living. Even then, it was a struggle to make ends meet. In September 2024, after dedicating seven years to one job, my position was phased out. I tried to hold on with my second job, but it wasn't enough, and I quickly fell behind on my bills. Then, in February 2025, I lost my second job as well. Despite applying for unemployment and SSI, I was denied both.
Living with chronic Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia makes things even more challenging, but I am determined to keep working if I can find the right opportunity. I have been applying everywhere and recently found a part-time job as a crossing guard. While I am grateful for the work, the hours are few and the pay is not enough to cover my basic needs. My only steady income is Social Security, which barely covers a fraction of my rent, let alone utilities, medical bills, and car payments. Now, I am facing the very real possibility of losing both my apartment and my car. At 72, with nowhere else to go, the thought of losing my home and my only means of transportation is overwhelming.
If I could pay off my car and cover a few months' rent, it would give me the breathing room I need to continue my job search and regain my independence. I am deeply grateful to those who created this platform and to everyone who has a heart for helping others in difficult times. Your prayers and support mean the world to me, and I will keep you in my prayers as well. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can offer.
