Help Me Keep My Home and Build a Path Forward

Dear Friends and Family,

First, thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m reaching out today not just to ask for help, but to share what I’m going through, what I’m trying to do to fix it, and how you might be able to support me in getting back on my feet.

As many of you know, I’ve been struggling financially since my accident. For a while, I was able to stay afloat through freelance work, but opportunities have become scarce recently. I’ve been applying for remote jobs, in-office roles in the immediate area, and asking around for any leads—doing everything I can to find stable work, despite not having transportation right now.

In the meantime, I’ve taken steps to stretch every dollar: I currently have someone renting part of my property in an RV, which is helping cover utilities. I’ve also been going through my belongings to try and sell anything I don’t truly need.

Now, I’ve come up with a plan that I believe can help me stay afloat—if I can just get a little help to get started.

The Plan:
I’m working to bring in more rental income to help cover my basic expenses:

I’m hoping to find another RV tenant.

I plan to convert my living room into a rentable space.

If I can get both rentals up and running, I estimate I could bring in around $1,500/month, which would allow me to cover my $1,160 mortgage and basic monthly bills (about $1,500 total).

You might wonder: Why not just sell the house and move? A fair question.

The truth is, selling wouldn’t solve the problem—it would only delay it. Rent prices are extremely high right now. Even renting a single room often costs $800 or more per month. If I sold my home, the money would disappear quickly without stable employment, and I’d end up paying nearly the same—or more—for much less. Staying in my home is still the most cost-effective and stable option, but I need help to make that happen.

What I’m Asking For:
I’m currently three months behind on my mortgage and doing everything I can to avoid losing my home. What I need is some help to get caught up and make small improvements to the house to prepare for renters.

Your donation would help with:

Bringing the mortgage current

Covering critical bills

Minor upgrades to the living room (clean-up, paint, adding a door) so I can rent it out

Even a small contribution can make a big difference. If I can get things stabilized and bring in renter income, I’ll finally have some breathing room while I continue to look for work.

I want to emphasize—I’m not looking for a handout. I’m doing everything I can to help myself, and I would take any job I’m physically able to do. I’ve even applied for minimum-wage roles. I just need a little support to get over this hump.

If you can contribute, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can’t, I completely understand—your prayers, kind words, and any job leads are just as appreciated.

Thank you again for reading and for being in my corner. I promise, I will pay this kindness forward in every way I can.

With so much gratitude,
Leslie
