Hi, under online spaces you can find to know me as "Maxim Theos" but everyone just calls me Maxim. I am a digital artist and software engineer living in Mexico.

Earlier this year I pursued my dream of finally being able to emigrate legally to Canada. I poured my life savings into this process because I wanted to build a better future honestly, without relying on shortcuts or illegal means.

Despite this effort, my very best version of myself and intentions were not enough to be given the chance to prove to the world I am not a caricature of harm or dishonesty that the developed world sees Mexico as. I knew the risks that could be associated with this, yet I tried to persevere and do my due diligence of preparing, compiling, and proving to the world that I am more than a man seeking asylum. I wanted to have the privilege to prove myself in a country that values his efforts and struggles for the sake of the community.

After my denial was sent to me, I have been left financially devastated, my savings are gone, setting me back 5 years of pure money pinching, endless hours of work gone in an instant. And after all of this with real risk of losing my home as I cannot recover myself with my current paycheck and gigs that I’ve been taking day and night to try and bounce back. I am unable to afford food and pay my bills for my home.

The reason I was denied from Canada is quite cruel in its simplicity: I could not prove enough financial stability in Mexico. An irony, since I had already spent my savings paying for the process itself.

I am not here to lie or deceive anyone. I simply need temporary help to get back on my feet.

I feel broken and betrayed by a system that seems built to keep me down. I did everything I was told, I worked hard, I stayed honest, I followed the rules and still it feels like none of it mattered. All my effort, all my hope, all my years of sacrifice… it feels like they were thrown away, like I was chasing a dream that was never meant for me. Despite this, I still dont wanna give up on myself.
