Help me keep my home!

Fighting to keep my home - anything helps. This was a gift willed to my mother from her lifelong best friend and husband, Ken.

Hi friends, family, and kind strangers,

I'm reaching out for help during one of the hardest chapters of my life.

Last year, we lost my stepdad Ken. I moved in with my mom so we could support each other earlier this year. We had a plan to share the mortgage and help each other through the healing process. A few weeks after I moved in, things took an unexpected turn. What started as a disagreement snowballed into a week of miscommunication and silence, and my mom ended up moving out ahead of schedule to her retirement community. I'm glad she's safe and doing what she feels is best for her—but the sudden shift left me here alone and responsible for the mortgage far sooner than expected.

I've been trying to hold things together on my own, but I've fallen behind. I have until the end of the month to catch up, and it's now down to just a few days. I've invited family over for dinner soon, and I'm hopeful some may be able to help—but I also know that everyone is dealing with their own challenges.

That's why I'm here. I never expected to be in a position where I'd need to ask for help like this, but I'm doing everything I can to hold on to this home and the stability it represents. I truly believe that if I can just get through this tight spot, I can get back on track. I've recently started a job at James Hardie building equipment as a janitor, which isn't exactly my forte, but I'm grateful for the opportunity. I'm also working hard toward my CDL—I've been studying the manual, listening to it, and even went to get my medical card approved. I'm determined to pursue my CDL and become a truck driver, but due to cuts in funding, I have to restart the process to get the financial support for school.

Recently, I went to the DMV to take the CDL tests, and though I failed all five tests by just a few questions each, I plan to retake them. I want to get all the endorsements, including for tankers, doubles, and triples.
