Help Me Join SOMA Summer in Mexico City

Hi,

I'm Ari, a visual artist and MA student at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

I’ve been offered a place at the SOMA Summer Residency in Mexico City this July — a four-week artist-led program exploring the theme: “BROTES (Outbreaks): Proposals to delay the end of the world.”

It’s a deeply political, poetic, and urgent context that speaks to me — and I’ve worked hard to get here.

My practice explores painting in the expanded field between folklore and fine art, queer embodiment, fight as metaphor and resilience, and ritual through wearable paintings, masks, and symbolic objects.

I’ve received a partial scholarship from SOMA and am applying for additional support, but I still need help covering flights, accommodation, daily expenses, and part of the residency fee.

My goal is to raise £2,500. This residency feels like an incredible chance to me for deepening my artistic work and research.
