Help me in my journey to Permanent Residency
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Marcia and I am asking for support in raising funds for legal fees regarding my permanent residency application to keep me home in Vancouver.
A bit about my story- As a survivor of domestic violence in Chile, I sought refuge in Canada after the judicial system in my home country failed to protect me. Since arriving in 2021, I have dedicated myself to rebuilding my life. I trained as an electrical worker and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where I’ve been helping to support BC’s labour shortage in the electrical trade. I am currently working at the new St Paul’s Hospital as part of the Controls Crew. Involvement in community and social issues is also greatly important to me and I am grateful to have worked with various organizations including Britannia Community Services Centre, Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House, and the City in Colour Cooperative.
Throughout this time and my journey here in Canada I faced insecure housing- having to move out 13 times in three years but I have finally been able to sign my first lease for a two-bedroom apartment that I share with my daughter. I recently also faced deportation but friends and community members came together to stop it- making thousands of calls and emails to Immigration Minister Marc Miller. Thanks to everyone mobilizing I am still here. However, to have a chance at staying here permanently, I have been advised that I urgently need a private lawyer to assist me in my application. The lawyer fees for this type of application rise to up to $10,000; unfortunately, this is a significant cost beyond what I cannot afford and I am asking for support in raising to cover the fees. Any donation will be greatly appreciated, even if you can donate $1 and spread the word.
Together we are stronger, thank you so much for your support and your donation!
