Help Me Honor Kristina Chesterman with a Trip to Nigeria
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Kyle Phillips and I am a current 4th semester Chico State nursing student. I am raising funds to fulfill a deeply meaningful journey to Nigeria. I have the honor of supporting the Kristina Chesterman Memorial Clinic, a medical facility established in memory of Kristina, a compassionate nursing student from Chico State University who tragically lost her life in 2013 due to a hit-and-run accident. Kristina dreamed of providing medical care in underserved communities, and although she is no longer with us, her family, friends, and fellow students have carried on her dream by establishing this clinic in Ozu Abam, Nigeria.
The clinic, built in partnership with local leaders and the nonprofit Clarrion Call, serves as a beacon of hope, offering affordable medical services in a region with limited healthcare access. Patients at the clinic can receive care for less than a dollar, and the clinic provides essential services, from emergency surgeries to basic health education and free medications. It operates with a special focus on women’s health, pediatric care, and diabetes management—issues close to Kristina's heart.
With your support, I hope to experience the work being done at the clinic firsthand, assisting healthcare providers and gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the Nigerian healthcare system. This trip is not just an opportunity for professional growth but is also a way to help continue Kristina's mission of compassionate care for those in need.
