Hi, my name is Michael Osweiler, and I’m reaching out for support during one of the most challenging times of my life.
Recently, I underwent cochlear implant surgery to restore hearing in my left ear — a life-changing procedure that has already begun to reconnect me with the world of sound. Prior to having the surgery, I was not able to even hear a jet engine with my left ear unaided. Today, I can hear the referee’s whistle from 100 ft away. But what should have been a hopeful step forward has been overshadowed by unexpected financial strain.
Unfortunately, despite prior expectations, United HealthCare has denied coverage for my surgeon and all post-surgery appointments — including the critical activation and ongoing mapping of the cochlear implant processor. These appointments are essential to helping me fully adjust to hearing again.
Right now, I’m facing $15,000 in medical bills, and I still have additional appointments and follow-ups ahead. Every dollar raised will go directly toward paying for the surgeon, mapping appointments, and ensuring I continue the path toward restored hearing.
If you’re able to contribute or share this fundraiser, I would be incredibly grateful. This has been a long and emotional journey, and your support means more than words can express.
Thank you for helping me hear again.
With love and gratitude,
Michael Osweiler
