Help Me Heal My Eye

Pet Patrol is a volunteer-run, non-profit cat rescue organization in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Hi, my name is Jorda. I’m still just a kitten, but I’ve already learned what it’s like to feel scared, confused, and in pain.

I grew up on a busy farm with my brothers and sisters. Life there was not easy for a little kitten. There were so many animals, loud machinery, and wide-open fields with no safe place to hide. We didn’t always have food at the ready, and sometimes we had to wait for scraps or search on our own. We were often scooped up by children who meant well, but as small as I was, it felt overwhelming and rough at times. Everything around me was big, noisy, and uncertain—and for a tiny kitten, it was a frightening world.

When Pet Patrol came to rescue us, I was so relieved—I felt safe for the first time in my life. I showed them right away how grateful I was with purrs and cuddles, even though I wasn’t feeling my best.

You see, I don’t have a left eye. It’s gone, leaving only painful tissue and infection behind. The world looks a little different to me—I can’t see out of one side, and sometimes that makes me nervous. But I’m still young, and I still love to play, purr, and snuggle. I know that with help, I can live a happy, pain-free life.

I need surgery to clean my eye socket and sew it shut, so I can heal properly and grow up healthy and strong. I’ve already come so far, and I’m hopeful that people who believe in second chances will help me get the care I need.
