This summer, I’m doing something that’s both scary and deeply important:
I’m donating my kidney to my uncle.
My uncle has always been a steady, caring presence in my life, and now he needs help. His kidney function has dropped so low that his quality of life has taken a serious hit. He’s constantly in and out of treatments, tired, and can’t do many of the things he used to enjoy. A transplant is the only way to get him back to truly living again. When I found out I could help him, it honestly felt like a sign. I couldn’t imagine just standing by while he suffered.
I work as a site lead for an after-school program, and I love being there for my students. But this summer, I won’t be able to work. My surgery is scheduled for June 24th at UC Davis, and I’ll be out recovering for several weeks.
I'm sharing this because I’m asking for help covering some of the financial gaps, like lost wages during summer school/camps, and recovery assistance.
More than anything, I want to make sure I can focus on healing while giving my uncle a second chance at life.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and spreading the word.
Whether you donate or simply share this story, it truly means a lot.
