Hola!
Mi nombre es Fernando Barrios, soy mexicano nacido en la Huasteca Veracruzana; actualmente soy estudiante de The College of Idaho, ubicado en Idaho, Estados Unidos, donde estudio un doble grado de Economía Política Internacional y Teatro con beca completa. Este año he recibido la noticia de que he obtenido una beca para participar en el programa “Semestre en el mar”, consistente en un viaje de 4 meses (de enero a abril del año entrante) donde cursaré materias relacionadas a mis carreras y tendré la oportunidad de visitar varias ciudades en diferentes países. Para mí esto significa la una gran oportunidad de vida para conocer la riqueza cultura del mundo, y expandir tanto mis perspectivas las ramas que estudio. Sin embargo, aunque estoy becado, el programa requiere que los estudiantes que participan aporten 2000 dólares para pagar el combustible del barco. Así mismo, debido a que el embarque es en Dubái, una ciudad con 10 horas de diferencia de donde resido, por lo que tendré que realizar gastos extras en el par de día que tengo que estar antes de embarcar, los cuales deberán ser pagados por mi cuenta. Actualmente estoy haciendo mi mayor esfuerzo para poder ahorrar el dinero suficiente, sin embargo, es poco probable que pueda obtener dicha cantidad de dinero en tan poco tiempo. Es por eso por lo que ahora estoy pidiendo ayuda, todas las aportaciones (sin importar la cantidad) serán sumamente agradecidas y me ayudarán a cumplir mi sueño.

My name is Fernando Barrios, I am a Mexican student (born in the region of La Huasteca in the State of Veracruz) at The College of Idaho, located in Idaho, United States. I am a double major in International Political Economy and Theater with a full scholarship. Fortunately, this year I have been notified that I have received a full scholarship to participate in the program “Semester at the Sea”, which consists of a 4 months trip (from January to April of next year). There I will take courses related to my majors and I will have the opportunity to visit different cities in different countries.
This experience means for me a unique chance to explore the culture of the world as well as to expand my knowledge and perspectives on my fields of study. However, even though I have a full scholarship, the program requires that each student pay a 2000-dollar fee for the ship fuel. Also, due to the embarking is in Dubai (a city with 10 hours of difference from where I live. Therefore, as I plan to arrive a couple of days earlier the embarking to get used to the time difference, I must pay the expenses on my own. Currently, I am doing my best to save money, however, it seems to be very difficult that I will be able to earn that amount in such a few times. For that reason, now I am asking for help from this community. All donations (regardless of the amount) will be massively appreciated and will support me to achieve my dreams.
