My name is Matthew Lester, I am currently the world no.5 in the wheelchair snooker world rankings, on the World Disability Billiards and Snooker tour. So far this season I have played some great snooker as my improved world ranking shows. I narrowly lost in the deciding frame of what was effectively a quarter-final at the 2025 WDBS European Championship. At the most recent tournament, I lost in what was in effect my first ranking event semi-final at the 2026 WDBS Belgian Open. I have also reached the semi-finals of the challenge cup at the 2025 WDBS UK Championship. The challenge cup is a knockout tournament open to players of all classifications who don't reach the final stages of their respective classification's ranking event. I am hoping to build on my performances this season at the upcoming WDBS Hull Open in May, before hopefully travelling to Thailand for the 2026 disability snooker World Championship will be held in Korat, from 15-21st June.
As I need to travel with a PA to assist with dressing etc my costs are significantly higher. I am looking for any support towards the costs of flights and accommodation for my PA and I. The cost of staying at the designated hotel is 200 Euros per night. WDBS are covering 2 nights of the stay. As I use a powered wheelchair I have to fly direct, as I would be without my chair during the stop over.
Every snooker player dreams of being World Champion. Any support towards my quest to be world champion would mean so much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
Matt
